Salary:                  Between £34,129.46 - £39,566.34 p.a. (depending on experience) plus benefits

St John’s College is looking to appoint an Archivist. Based in the College Library, reporting to the Librarian, the role will be responsible for overseeing the collections, security and day-to-day operations of the College’s extensive archives.

Working as an integral part of the Library team, you will be expected to deal with queries on the historic collections from a wide range of people, both in person and in writing, and to make appointments for them to visit the Archive. You will be expected to maintain the electronic catalogue of the College permanent archive and to provide photographic reproductions of archival material.

The successful candidate will have a good honours degree together with a professional archival or appropriate library postgraduate qualification as well as a working knowledge of medieval and early modern Latin. You will possess excellent communication skills and will have practical experience of working with archives and manuscript materials. Excellent organisational and administrative skills are also essential as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
