St John’s hosts 10 year anniversary of Cambridge International Development Conference

St John’s College is to host the Cambridge International Development Conference on 28 November 2015, marking the 10th anniversary of the student-run event which discusses measures to tackle extreme poverty and global inequalities.

The tenth Cambridge International Development Conference will be held at St John’s College, on 28 November, giving students the opportunity to meet with professionals and academics working at the forefront of international development and consider future alternative and innovative methods for combating extreme poverty and global inequality.

This year’s conference, titled “Learning from the Past, Educating for the Future”, will look at pioneering development strategies, while reflecting on past methods, and will have a particular focus on the theme of education.

During the event, topics from the refugee crisis to female empowerment and education equality will be discussed and Speakers from leading charities directly concerned with these issues, such as War Child UK, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Oxfam will take part.

The conference is supported by The Humanitarian Centre – a global network of NGOs, businesses and individuals who work together to reduce global inequality and its consequences – and Cambridge Hub – an organisation made up of Cambridge students involved in volunteering, campaigning and running charity events.

The conference is open to all and will be held in the Divinity School at St John’s College on 28 November from 9am – 5pm.

Tickets cost £15 or £10 for students and can be bought from: https://www.universe.com/events/cambridge-international-development-conference-tickets-cambridge-CBGK3R
