Nida Trust visit St John's College

A group of students from the Nida Trust visited St John’s College in late February; a visit which was organised by the Access Officer in conjunction with Cambridge Interfaith. The day began with a 'Scriptural Reasoning' session run by the Interfaith team and was followed by lunch in the College Buttery.

After lunch, students were invited to grill a panel of current undergraduates about life at St John's and also visited the Old Library, where the Librarian's Assistant showed the group a selection of scriptural texts. These included the 'Mahabrata' on palm leaves, an African Qu'ran and an Ethiopian magic scroll.

Soraya Zahid, the group's leader, said of the visit: 'It was a very inspirational and enjoyable day for everyone.'

'The young people really enjoyed themselves and the question and answer session with the students really gave some food for thought of possibly studying at Cambridge, or at least continuing education at higher level.'
