Lira Puebla awarded Chemistry Prize

Lira Puebla, an Erasmus chemistry student at St John's College, was one of the three recipients of the Fundación Caja Madrid Award in Chemistry. This prestigious award was presented by the Prince and Princess of Asturias in a ceremony that was held on 24 May in the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid.

This award recognises outstanding Spanish scientists, in the early stages of their career, who are undertaking research in some of the world's most prestigious Universities and Institutions. The Fundación Caja Madrid Award is accompanied by a two-year research grant.

Lira comments: "It has been an absolutely wonderful surprise to receive such an award after a year of stimulating work in St John's College; it is definitely an extra injection of energy and motivation. I believe that with the encouragement of Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia my scientific curiosity will have no limits!"
