Preces and Responses, transcribed and edited by John Gittins for the use of St John’s College Chapel, Cambridge. January 1960. This edition superseded the Church Music Society Edition of Preces and Responses (1933), prepared by Fellowes and Atkins. Includes settings by John Amner, William Byrd, William Smith, Thomas Tallis, and Thomas Tomkins.

227x175 mm. Folio approx. [99] pages. Paper. Fabric-backed wooden boards, with some gold-tooling on the front board. Gold-tooled “BASS DEC” in top-right corner; gold-tooled centrepiece of St John’s College coat of arms. Includes College bookplate and binder’s stamp [V.R. Stoakley, Cambridge] on inside front board. Given by Ralph Allwood, Precentor and Director of Music, Eton College, December 2002.
