Frank Thistlethwaite, Occasional diary. English, 1982.

[Frank Thistlethwaite (1915-2003)]: autograph manuscript diary, c. November – December 1982. Includes accounts of visits to Swaziland and Mauritius on behalf of the Inter-University Council for Higher Education Overseas (IUC) and the British Council. Thistlethwaite was admitted to St John’s College to study English and History in 1934, graduating B.A. 1938, M.A. 1941. He was Fellow of the College from 1945 to 1961; College Lecturer in History 1949-1961; and Lecturer for the Faculty of Economics and Politics, University of Cambridge, 1949-1961. Thistlethwaite was appointed the founding Vice-Chancellor of the University of East Anglia (UEA) in 1961, a position he retained until 1980. In 1962, he became UEA’s representative on the Inter-University Council for Higher Education Overseas (IUC), and later Chairman, 1977-1981.
