For Cowie see ODNB. With manuscript annotations, corrections and additions in various hands, including those of William Keeling (librarian 1844-45), J.E.B. Mayor, John Spicer Wood (librarian c.1861-82), Frank Cherry (sub-librarian 1876-88), and Ernest William Lockhart (sub-librarian 1888-1911). A printed 'Catalogue of early printed classics in the library of St John's College, Cambridge' (1887) is tipped in at the front.
