Gloucester cathedral library catalogue. English and Latin, 1833.

 

'Catalogue of the Cathedral Library Gloucester. C. Hough 1833.' A list of printed books dating from the 15th to the 19th centuries arranged in alphabetical order by author/title. The entry for each book gives its author and/or title, format, imprint, and pressmark. A summary list of the 'Contents of the presses' appears on p. 112.

Supplementary information 

230 x 195mm. 112 pages. Paper. A single neat hand throughout. Binding: 19th-century half binding of red leather and marbled paper over boards; marbled edges.

With the above are kept various scrappy notes and lists including the following.

  • 'Books added to the Library of Gloucester Cathedral since the arrangement of the catalogue in 1833.' Arranged in alphabetical order with a note of the donor and date of donation. c.1849. 7p.
  • 'Manuscripts in the Library of Gloucester Cathedral.' Lists 31 items. 7p.

Given to the library by the administrator of the estate of J.E.B. Mayor (1825-1910) (book label, 1910). College bookplate.
