The Way to the Stars: 700 Years of Astronomy

Saturday 13 March 2010, 10am to 4pm

As part of Cambridge Science Festival St John's College Library will be uncovering 700 years of astronomy this March. Come along to see:

  • medieval manuscripts from the fourteenth century
  • some of the earliest published writing on the use of the telescope
  • astronomical instruments for you to try yourself - learn how to use an astrolabe
  • manuscripts from some of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries' most notable astronomers

Exhibition open from 10am to 4pm. Follow the signs from the Great Gate of St John's College.

Sign up with the Festival organisers (telephone 01223 766766) to take part in a hands-on workshop to build your own astrolabe, a medieval star-map, calendar, and navigational aid. Booking will open on Monday 8 February.
