Fri, 08/09/2017 - 14:00 - Sat, 09/09/2017 - 14:00

The Old Library at St John’s College is one of the most beautiful in Cambridge. Opened in 1624, its magnificent west-facing oriel window looks over the River Cam and the ornately-carved original wooden bookcases hold a diverse and rich collection ranging widely in subject, time and provenance.

As part of Open Cambridge, this exhibition brings together some of the most spectacular items in the College’s collections, treasured for their beauty, historic value, uniqueness, fascinating content and personal associations. From vibrantly coloured illuminated manuscripts to early printed books and artefacts, the display showcases items of national and international importance and essential primary materials sought after by scholars across the world.
