College Meals

The Buttery Dining Room is open all day during term time with a set menu for lunch and dinner, including a daily vegetarian option. The self-service, recently refurbished, restaurant provides a varied selection of meals and snacks at subsidised prices, ranging from take-away baked potatoes and sandwiches, to a choice of three main meals with vegetables. We also offer a selection of free-range, Fair Trade and organic products, as well as locally-sourced items. In the mornings and afternoons, we are open for snacks, paninis and a wide range of teas and coffees. Some national newspapers are provided in the afternoon. We have wi-fi in the Touchdown soft seating area.

Hall

Dinner in Hall, at which gowns are worn and Grace is read, is a traditional part of College life, and it is hoped that Junior members of the College will dine regularly. The three course candle-lit meal is normally silver-served. Junior members can of course invite personal guests to dine in Hall with them.

College Bar

The College Bar offers a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, along with coffees, teas and freshly-made baguettes and toasted sandwiches. We also sell hand-picked College wines, ports and sherries. The Bar is a focal point for College social activity with a very friendly atmosphere.

Computer Facilities »

The College makes a variety of computing facilities available to its members. There are two computer rooms, equipped with scanners and printers, and a number of public access points in convenient locations around the College. These systems are connected to the University's Public Workstation Facility (PWF). The PWF provides file storage which may be accessed from almost all University departments and ensures a consistent computing environment across the University. More details about the College's computer facilities are available to members on CamTools.

The College provides secure, high-speed network connections to all rooms on the main site and most external hostels. In addition, we provide a wireless hotspot service which enables members to access the service at various strategic areas within the College.

Computing Help Desk

Computing provides a 'Computer Help Desk' service to all College members. This includes help and advice on computing issues and a limited disaster recovery service to help users get data back should their own computers fail. Contact details and opening times are available to members through CamTools.

Personal Computers

The College requires all computers connected to the network to be secure and actively supported by their software suppliers. We will provide assistance with anti-virus software and operating system patches. However, computers are required to have a reasonably up-to-date operating system before we will allow them on the network:

  • PCs - Windows XP or later
  • Apple Macs - OSX 10.1 or later
  • Linux - judged on a case by case basis

As a rule of thumb any machine manufactured in the last 5 years should be fine.
