Prize Details

 

Douglas Adams was a student of St John’s from 1971 to 1974, taking a BA in English. He is best known for writing The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.  He died in 2001 and the Douglas Adams Prize has been set up by his friends and colleagues in his memory.

Candidates are required to submit a piece of humorous writing on a subject of their own choosing, in prose or verse, published or unpublished. The deadline for submissions has now passed. Next year's competition will be launched in November 2023 with a closing date in January 2024.

The prize is open to all undergraduate (including affiliated students) and postgraduate students of the College.
