St John’s College, one of the largest Colleges within the University of Cambridge, is seeking to appoint an experienced Database Developer.
In this key role, you will work within the Computer Support Department ensuring the College systems run smoothly and meet users needs by providing bespoke programming and database administration services under the direction of the Computer Services Manager.
The successful candidate will have a good level of general education, probably to degree level, together with a formal computing qualification and/or appropriate experience. We are looking for an individual with an awareness of issues relating to computer security, the Data Protection Act, Health and Safety regulations and software copyright. Together with a good level of competence of computer administration in Windows and Unix environments.
You will also possess knowledge of commonly used database technologies and scripting languages – SQL and VB or C++ are key tools; and knowledge of SharePoint, Drupal, .Net and Active Directory are useful.
